Environmental Education Center Director
Having a great site and great resources are one thing, but here at the Environmental Education Center we pride ourselves on our professional staff that will work with your students. Our staff is made up of adults that have received college degrees in areas such as; biology, conservation, forestry, education, and recreation to name a few. All in all, our staff is a very diverse group of instructors that enjoy working outside with children in a highly energetic and active environment that promote respect, responsibility, caring, honesty and faith for everybody and the environment.

Matthew Faist
Matt joined Herring Ridge in the Spring of 2007 as the Assistant Director of Environmental Education and Conferences. He has worked for the YMCA for over three years as a counselor, outdoor trip leader, and a group leader for an after school program. Matt comes to us with an Associates degree in Ecotourism & Adventure Travel from Hocking College in Ohio. He has studied abroad in the Bahamas and completed his Divemaster in the Bay Islands of Honduras. His love for the YMCA, environment and great hikes, brought him here all the way from Ohio to embrace all that northwest North Carolina has to offer. Matt is married to Britt, a former Camp Harrison Staff Member. |
